You Can Acquire What You Desire

Recently, I’ve been asking myself “What is the simplest formula for success I can think of?” I wanted a formula that was easy to remember and that was effective.

Here it is in six simple words:

1. Define your desires.

2. Take persistent action.

There’s a lot that can be said about each of these steps that I won’t get into here. Write down this formula on a small card and repeat these two sentences several times a day for the next 30 days and see what happens. The best way to find out if it works for you is to test it.

It’s true that Napoleon Hill and others talk about other success principles. For example, the Master Mind, Imagination, Enthusiasm, Pleasing Personality, Positive Mental Attitude, Budgeting Time and Money, etc. I think that it is important to develop all of those qualities (and most if not all of these are covered in my Power Affirmations). Yet, I think that those principles merely support the basic formula.

In order to hit a target you have to know what it is. Your desires must be definite. Most people confuse wishful thinking and day dreaming with a definite desire. One way to determine if your desire is definite is can it be objectively measured?

And you have to take persistent action to acquire what you want.

Here’s a couple of great questions: what is a definite, measurable, achievable goal that you can achieve within the next 90 days? A goal that is in harmony with your overall desires. What actions can you take within the next 24 hours to move towards the achievement of that goal?

If you think about it, if you desire something, it’s because you feel at some level that it is missing in your life. Whatever it is that you lack, I believe that affirmations and repetition of positive thought can help you create it. First in your imagination then in the physcial world of time and space.

Here’s a story from an out-of-print book written in 1957 that may help you understand the power of visualization and repetition of thought. The book was “If You Can Count to Four” by JB Jones.

“A few years ago, while I was in the insurance and investment business, our company issued a special 6 year annuity investment policy. Very few of our agents around the country sold much of it. For the first three years I was with the company, I did not sell a single policy of that type. I had no feeling for it. I did not see its value. I had no desire to sell it and consequently did not sell it. However, as an experiment, after discovering the principle of how my mind worked, I decided to use the principle and see what would happen.

First, I obtained all the literature available on this policy, and each night, just before going to sleep, I read and studied the entire kit of literature thoroughly. I did that for about 30 nights.

Second, I made a 15 minute recording on my record player and for the entire 15 minutes, I made statements from the assumption that I was an expert selling a minimum amount of this policy each week. I played this recording over and over each night and morning during this 30 day period.

Pretty soon, I began to see why certain men and women would want to invest their money in that plan. During the month that this took place, I wrote enough of this plan to earn $440 in commission. During the following month, I earned $1,200 on that one plan. I became an expert in presenting the plan to people who were able to invest large sums in that type of plan. Note that, before I conditioned my mind, by reading the entire kit of literature over and over, each night for 30 nights, and playing the recording over and over to myself, I had known about the plan for three years, and yet had made no sales at all.”

Back in the 1950′s, $440 and $1,200 a month was a decent amount of money. The author eventually went on to become a multi-millionaire.

Here’s a man who believed so strongly in the power of using recordings that he made his own phonographic record. This was even before cassette tapes and CDs. Thanks to improvements in technology, we have more elegant ways of listening to recordings. I’ve used cassette tapes and CDs. While they had their place, they were much more clunky and clumsy compared to today’s iPods, iPhones, and other digital players.

If you want to get started within minutes, you can download the 488 Power Affirmations recordings that I’ve created in MP3 format. Thanks to the internet, these recordings have helped thousands of people all around the world.

About the 488 Power Affirmations

I created these affirmations by studying some of the best teachers in the world and transforming key ideas into positive affirmations. People like Napoleon Hill, Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, Robert Kiyosaki, Dale Carnegie, Zig Ziglar, and Wallace D. Wattles. What’s valuable about these affirmations is that you can choose the ones that resonate with you and then repeat them over and over and over again with your conscious mind to train your subconscious mind to think these ideas naturally as a matter of habit so that you follow through with action.

And to make it easier for you (and for myself), I have made recordings of all 488 Power Affirmations that you can download right now as MP3s.

I defined my desire (to write and record these affirmations). And I took persistent action to turn the recordings into reality. Are you ready to take positive action to improve your life?
