My Power Affirmations Work--Whether I Believe in Them or Not
This is a transcript of Power Affirmations Podcast – Episode 2
Hello again, this is Bill Marshall talking and in today’s episode, I will be discussing what I consider to be a very important Power Affirmation. It is a foundational affirmation that prepares your mind so that all of the other affirmations work better.
Here it is:
My power affirmations work—whether I believe in them or not.
Why do I say that this affirmation is foundational? It is because you are communicating to your mind that you choose to believe that affirmations work regardless of the circumstances that you see around you. I believe that affirmations are not a declaration of fact, but a declaration of faith. Although Power Affirmations are stated in the present tense, in reality, they are often declarations of what you are attracting to your life in the future.
This affirmation is another way of reminding yourself that there is a law in this universe that thoughts—including your thoughts—are creative. This law is just as certain as the law of gravity.
Most people are not patient enough or consistent enough to allow for enough growth and time for their affirmations to help them achieve their goals. They try affirmations for a few days, but then they see no immediate results, and they give up. They say to themselves, “ Oh, this doesn’t work. It’s just a waste of my time.” And you know what—they’re right. It is a waste of their time. Because they are choosing these thoughts to take root, and choosing to believe them, they have created the reality that affirmations do not work for them. And you know what? They’re also making those statements with a feeling of certainty. A feeling of faith that affirmations are just not going to work.
I know that this is true, because this was my personal experience for a long time. I’ve known about affirmations in some form or fashion for years—ever since reading Napoleon Hill’s book, “Think and Grow Rich.” But I never really used them enough, or consistently enough to experience their full power.
The turning point for me came when I made a choice to believe that no matter what the circumstances I saw around me, my power affirmations are working. They are helping me to focus the creative force of my mind to achieve whatever goals I set for myself. Knowing this, I choose to be patient. I choose to be consistent. I refuse to give in to the idea that my current circumstances define my reality. Using power affirmations and other positive thought, I am creating the reality that I desire.
Yes, it takes time. And sometimes, it takes a lot of time. It takes personal growth and increasing my skills. But the first step in making this happen is to take control of my mind. To choose only the thoughts and the beliefs that support the achievement of my goals. To reject and eliminate negative thoughts that cause me to stray on irrelevant tangents.
So I encourage you, choose to believe in the power of your own thoughts. Your thoughts are creative.
Choose to be positive regardless of your current circumstances.
Choose to continue to improve your personal skills so that you are ready for the achievement of your goals. You have to prepare yourself for the achievement of your goals.
Here is the Power Affirmation again for you to think about:
