So How Long Will it Take to Download All
200 MP3 Files?

One of the questions that most frequently comes up is "how long will it take to download the files?"  The answer to this is that it depends on your connection.

After doing some research, I have come up with the following comparison chart depending.  These are just estimates.  As you can see from the chart, the only connection that takes a long time to download is dial-up.  I'm assuming that you have at least a 56k modem since that has been the standard for a long time.  If you still have a 28k modem, it will take about twice the time as a 56k modem.

These are only estimated download times.  Your time may be more or less.  I've tried to be conservative in my estimates.

A Few Points to Consider if You Have a
Dial-Up Internet Connection

If you connect to the internet via dial-up modem, here are a few points to consider:

• One of the reasons I broke up the files is so that people who connect to the internet can download them in segments.  Even when you order all 6 discs as a bundle to save money, each disc is a separate file.  That way, you can spread out the downloading of the files.

• To minimize the size of the files, I have compressed the size as much as possible with minimal loss in audio quality.

• The files are zipped to further reduce the size.

• Even though the download page provided by my shopping cart program is only valid for 24 hours, if you need more time, I can send you a fresh set of links.

• Even with the dial-up connection, you are getting the files much faster than if I had to send them to you via "snail mail."  In most cases, that would take anywhere from 3-5 days of shipping.

• If I had to ship the files to you, the price of the program would be significantly higher to cover the materials, shipping costs, and the additional time it takes me to prepare the package and take it to the post office.  This is especially true if you live outside of the US and I have to fill out the additional paperwork involved with international shipping.

So, even in the case of a dial-up connection, there's no question in my mind that this is the best way to deliver the files to you.

If you have dial-up, one option you may want to consider is finding a local friend who has a faster connection who can download the files for you and copy them to a data CD-R.  When you place your order, the link to the download page will also be emailed to you.  You can always forward that link to them and ask them to download the files for you.

Another option is if you have a faster connection at work, you can always download them at the office and copy the files to a data CD-R.
