How To Create an Electronic Vision Board

Wow, this is so simple and yet so powerful, I don't know why I never thought of it before.

In the book, "The Secret" one of the tools that is discussed is creating a Vision Board.  The idea behind this is to create a board that has clippings of pictures that remind you of what you want to attract into your life.

In the book, "Jack Canfield's Key to the Law of Attraction," the authors suggest taking this idea a step further and creating a "vision book."  The idea here is similar, but it's much easier to to keep it organized around several goals (or to even have one book per goal), easier to carry around with you to refer to it several times per day, and easier to keep private.

But working with a lot of loose paper and scraps of paper is not that appealing to me.  And it can be time consuming and expensive to find good looking pictures in magazines to find the exact pictures you are looking for.

Then I thought, "why not create a vision board electronically?"  Would this be easy to do?  Would it be practical?

First, here are the tools I use:

  1. Google and the other search engines (free!)

  2. Snagit by Techsmith.  This program makes cutting and pasting pictures a snap.  There may be other programs available, but this is the one I use.

You can get a free 30 day trial to test it yourself.  http://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.asp

  3.   MS Word.  Personally, I use MS Word 2007, but I imagine that other versions and word processing programs will work fine.  Or you could use a program that creates web pages (for example, Front Page).

One advantage of using a web page editor is that you don't have to be as concerned about margins.  But one of the advantages of a word processor is that it is easier to keep it well organized for printing.  Experiment and find out what works best for you.

  4. Print out your board.  Use a color printer if possible.  If you don't own a color printer, go to Kinko's or some similar company.  It will cost you a little money, but isn't it worth it to manifest your heart's desires?

Here's the process I'm following:

  1. Make a list of what you want to attract into your life.

  2. Conduct a search on Google and the other search engines for pages related to your goals.  Using the search engines is a great way to get very specific very fast.

  3. As you find appealing pictures (even text in nice font) related to your goals, use Snagit to cut and paste them in a word document.

  4. Add inspiring text (and, yes, affirmations).

  5. Have fun!

  6. Review and revise it until the goal is achieved.

Visualizing a Trip to Rome

Here's an example.  Let's say that one of your dreams is to take a trip to Rome.  Following the steps above, I created the following example in about 15 minutes and saved it as a PDF.  If I were really serious about this goal, I'd be willing to put in more time and get more compelling pictures.  And I'd add some affirmations.

In the case of my example, all I did was put the pictures on the page in an orderly manner.  You could get a lot more fancy than this.  I could also create a lot more pages with a lot more pictures.  And I could use 3 hole paper and have pages with pictures related to other goals.

I can also reprint and repurpose those pictures to create a normal vision board.  Just print, cut, and paste on a poster board.  The great thing about having the pictures electronically is that you can use them multiple times and in many different ways.

The point is that to create a vision page or pages using these tools is very simple and it allows you to create a clear vision in your imagination of exactly what you want in a compelling way.  Once you have your pages, you can use them to visualize the completion of your goals as often as you want.  You can also make multiple copies and to keep around you.  Be creative.  Do whatever works for you.

As a side benefit to doing it electronically, just searching the internet will give you ideas as to how you can manifest your vision.  Also, you can create electronic links in the page so that you can go back to websites you found helpful.

The Possibilities are Endless

You can create a vision board on just about anything.  Here are some thoughts:

  • Pictures of your dream home.

  • A new car you want.

  • Pictures of nature.

  • Pictures of people in your life.

  • Vacation spots.

  • A university that you want to attend.

  • Exercise equipment.

  • Real Estate.

  • Wealthy people.

  • Pictures of book covers.

  • Healthy food.

If you can't find specific pictures that will inspire you (I think that's doubtful), you can always use text.  You can also add captions to the pictures you create.

Review Your Board Multiple Times Per Day

The more frequently you review your board, the faster you will manifest the creation of what you want.  So, while I create the board electronically, I also print it out to take with me.  I keep the pages  tucked away in my portfolio so that I can look at them many times during the day.  I tape the pages in various places around my home.  And, yes, I also look at them online.

Do whatever works for you.  Just make certain you review your boards daily.

A Vision Board on Steroids

If you are interested in adding a new, potentially more powerful dimension to using vision boards, you may want to consider looking at some software that I just purchased for myself.  I must tell you in advance it's $59.  But, what is it worth to be able to clearly and vividly visualize your goals with audio and video--a complete multimedia experience.

Isn't that how advertisers get you to spend your money on their products?

Why not use those same techniques to get yourself to take consistent action towards the manifestation of your goals.

It's called, "Vision Board"--not exactly a very marketable name, but wow, what it lets you do!

  • You can import your own pictures or use pictures from their library (if you want to collect your own custom images from the internet, you will still need a program like Snagit).

  • You can add your own audio.  For example, from a CD you own or pre-recorded affirmations (like my 488 affirmations in MP3 format).

  • The software automatically rotates through the pictures in a dynamic way.  This makes the presentation of your vision board more powerful to your subconscious mind.

  • You can type your own affirmations and associate them to the relevant pictures.

  • You can add a power word associated to the relevant pictures (it's a separate field from the affirmations).

  • Share your vision board with others (like your mastermind group).

  • Export the pictures to a poster.

  • View your Vision Board any time by right clicking on the icon on your task bar (probably in the lower right hand corner of your screen depending on your computer settings).

  • Create multiple vision boards.

  • And even more features than I have time to describe here...

The software is very simple to use.  Without knowing anything about the software, I downloaded the software and created my first vision board using the software within 60 minutes.

If you want to learn more about the software and possibly purchase a copy for yourself, just click on the button below.  The site includes a video that is helpful to visualize using the software, but doesn't show the latest version.  I think the interface for the latest version looks much better.  And it probably has more features.

P.S.  Remember that there are 488 Power Affirmations recordings available for immediate download in MP3 format (over 8 hours of audio).  These studio recordings include the 203 Power Affirmations from my book and 285 Power Affirmations inspired by "The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace D. Wattles.

"The Science of Getting Rich" is the book that inspired Rhonda Byrne to produce "The Secret."

Yes, I've gone through the entire book and transformed every important point into an affirmation.  It is an exhaustive work.  And the affirmations are organized by chapter.

If you think that "The Science of Getting Rich" is simply about creating financial wealth, you need to expand your vision.  It is about creating "abundance" in every area of your life--your spirit, your relationships, your health, and your happiness.  And yes, your wealth too.  That's certainly an important part of life.  I've been poor and I've been wealthy.  Wealthy is better.

Just listening to the affirmations will help you improve your present feelings, thoughts, and actions.  And that will help create a better future for all of us.

Yes, you can listen to these MP3s on your digital player (like the iPod), or on your computer, or burn them to CD to listen on any CD player.

Time is more valuable than money.  You can always earn more money, but you can never get back time.  Here is an opportunity to save time by taking advantage of the time I've already spent creating and recording these affirmations.  Why reinvent the wheel?

P.S.S.  I've recently discovered an online video called "How the Wealthy Get that Way" that I am making available on a limited basis.  Since you are visiting this page, here's a link to watch it right now.  Enjoy and prosper!
